Same-day car brake fluid change
We manage the brake repair garage.
At driverhelpline we believe in giving you complete peace of mind, so our garage will give your car a free, no obligation comprehensive brake check when you book your brake fluid change online.
Once in our trusted local garage, a trained technician uses a pressure system to supply a constant flow of brand new brake fluid into the brake master cylinder reservoir which forces out the old, contaminated brake fluid in the system along with any trapped air.
Moving around the vehicle, each wheel cylinder is bled of the old, contaminated brake fluid in a sequence which is usually dictated by the manufacturer. As our technician bleeds each wheel in turn, they look out for the old brake fluid flowing from each brake caliper or cylinder being replaced by clean, new fluid.
Depending on the age of your car, and whether it has ABS (anti lock braking), a diagnostic tool will also be required. This ensures the replacement of old fluid in the ABS controller as well as every brake line and hose in the system.
At driverhelpline , we use DOT4+ (plus) brake fluid which has a higher boiling point than standard DOT 4 brake fluid which can better withstand prolonged hard braking and has been designed to meet the high demands of modern braking systems.
Once the brake fluid change is complete, we dispose of the old fluid in an environmentally friendly and safe way.
Your car brake fluid change is as easy as 1-2-3.

We’ll stop the brake repair garage charging you for stuff which your car doesn't need.
At driverhelpline we’re all about making sure that your car can stop effectively and safely, that’s why we offer a free, no obligation brake check for your peace of mind.
Our experienced technicians start with a road test so we can ‘feel’ how effective your car brakes are and listen out for any curious noises when the brakes are applied.
Next, in our workshop we have all the technical equipment needed to inspect your car braking system including the following;
Brake Pedal Operation
When you press down on the brake pedal a lever activates a piston in the master cylinder which in turn forces hydraulic brake fluid to activate the brake ‘slave’ cylinders at the wheels. Our technicians perform a static test to check the pedal’s travel and the operation of any power servo, if fitted.
The master cylinder and the reservoir attached to it which holds the brake fluid will be examined for leaks and physical damage.
This hydraulic fluid is produced to high standards to allow it to consistently transfer forces applied to the brake pedal into pressure in the braking system. It works on the principle that liquids don’t generally compress under pressure. Brake fluid deteriorates over time and it is generally recommended that it be changed every 24,000 miles or 24 months. We check that the brake fluid has not taken in moisture by measuring the boiling point as well as the general condition to ensure it still operates effectively.
Disc Brake Calipers
Most cars have have disc brakes for the front brakes. The disc brake caliper holds the slave cylinder pistons which squeeze the brake pads onto the disc as it is rotating to create friction and slow down the vehicle. We examine the calipers and the hoses and pipes connected to them for brake fluid leaks and damage.
Many cars still use rear drum brakes. In a drum brake system, the wheel cylinder presses brake shoes against the brake drum again creating friction to slow down the vehicle. We inspect the drum brake wheel cylinder assembly and and the hoses and pipes connected to them for brake fluid leaks and damage.
Brake Pads & Shoes
Brake pads are fitted to disc brakes and brake shoes are fitted to drum brakes. Both use a friction material which wears-out as the brakes are applied. If a brake pad’s friction material wears down to a thickness of 3 millimetres or less, it is recommended that brake pads should be replaced. We measure brake pads and shoes for wear to advise you how much ‘life’ they have left in them, plus we will check for physical damage.
Brake Discs & Drums
Brake discs are made from much harder materials than the pads which rub on to them, but they can still wear out. Manufacturers specify a minimum thickness at which point they should be replaced. We will measure the discs or drums for wear as well as reporting any damage.
The handbrake applies the rear disc pads or brake shoes either using a cable or an electric motor when a vehicle is stationary to stop it moving. We check the condition and operation of the handbrake.
After any inspection we’ll contact you with our recommendations if we find anything which we think needs fixing. Remember, we’ll do this with what’s best for you in mind and provide you with all the documentation we have from the checks.
Once we’ve carried out any repair, adjustments and checks that your braking system is working effectively, we’ll carry out a final road test.

Having good brakes is vital, your brake system is the most important safety system on your car.
An MOT test or an annual service by a qualified technician is a chance to assess the condition of the key parts of your brake system and when these parts, including the brake fluid, are likely to need replacing.
Most manufacturers recommend changing the brake fluid every 24 months or 24,000 miles - whichever comes first.
Here are the Top 4 most obvious signs that you need to replace brake parts.
Red Brake System Warning Light
means your brakes need immediate attention. The most common problems being that the front brake pads have worn to a level where they have triggered the in-built sensor (which will also need to be replaced) or a hydraulic system failure.
such as squeaking or grinding when you apply your brakes also tell you that there is something wrong. Grinding noises are usually a result of metal-to-metal contact, squeaking is often because the brake pads do not have the correct contact with the disc, both need to be looked at urgently or they will cause further damage.
Unusual Brake Pedal Movement
such as having to put your foot to the floor to stop, or sponginess when applying the brakes, both point to the need to change brake fluid. A change of brake fluid is recommended every 24 months because it loses effectiveness over time. You may also feel a vibration or pulsing through the pedal in normal braking which signifies that the brake discs have become distorted and ineffective and will need to be changed. In heavy braking this pulsating is more likely to be sign that the ABS (antilock braking system) is working.
Pulling Left Or Right
is normally a sign that there is an imbalance in braking capability, particularly with the front brakes. Brake components such as pads or discs should always be replaced in axle pairs so that balance can be restored.
For the sake of your safety, your passengers and other road users, please book a free, no obligation brake inspection as soon as you notice any of these signs.
